Top notch for sure. He'll be missed dearly.

Man that sucks! I met him in his later years, but loved hearing about him in his prime. Damn good friend on top of it.

Go ahead 'n cry if you feel like it, Brent.
Timber was a great dog, and worth it.

Cry??? Let's be clear about this much: that is NOT something this man does; and even if I did, I wouldn't admit to it - especially on an open forum. ))
Seriously though, thanks to all the guys that have called and sent messages. Seems kind of sappy to say so, but it has been good to hear all the positive comments about the old man. He was a great companion who was as much a part of my family at DE as he was at home. He will be missed.

Sad. Very sad. I knew him 1/2 season and for some reason, he and I bonded.
Seems insensitive but I know you wanted to breed him with Whiskey. I know the first batch of sperm got messed up. Any luck before he left us?

Nope. He needed to stick around for another couple of months for a second shot. Trying to decide whether to breed to the non-hunt-tested son of his that looks and acts just like him that I trained with off and on and knew as a pup; or whether to go with a titled-up/high-dollar stud. The smart money is to breed to an FC and sell expensive pups; the other half of my brain wants to go with the good 'ole boy breeding first. I can always breed Whiskey to an FC later.
Any thoughts?

You'll find the answer once you decide what you're looking for. What's your main goal? A dog that's good on paper and you can make some decent money or a dog that's good in the field and perhaps you make a little less money?
